GENERAL FUNCTION:
Design and implement reliability-oriented solutions using modern engineering tools and Agile practices. Work with self-directed, cross-functional, and product-oriented teams in a highly collaborative environment. Improve reliability of the bank's most important products and services while developing skills and experience well beyond your initial role.
The Consulting Engineer is a technical expert in one or more domains and a thought leader that acts as a catalyst to accelerate the adoption of the very best engineering practices across the company. They maintain knowledge of (and may even contribute to) industry innovations, trends, and best practices. They work on some of the organization’s most difficult problems, coach and mentor other members of the company’s engineering community, and help to define roadmaps for delivering next generation technology solutions that span organizational boundaries. They can work as a member of an Agile team, in a consultative / supporting role across many teams, or in a more strategic role helping to shape the future of technology and innovation within the company.
Consulting Engineers are influential servant leaders with a collaborative style that brings others into the decision-making process and a demonstrated ability to gain the trust and confidence of those around them, from engineers to executives. They should be quick to lend their expertise, while also fostering an inclusive environment where others’ ideas are heard and championed. One of their primary goals should be the continuous improvement and up-skilling of the company’s engineering community as a whole.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement and maintain reliability solutions while continuously improving the quality of our technical products and services, including practice of Service Level Indicators (SLI), Service Level Objectives (SLO), and Error BudgetFollow industry and organizational best practices and standards of site reliability, and help to lead company communities of practice to continuously refine and communicate them. Champion a culture of continuous improvement.Achieve operational excellence by optimizing and automating processes and designing high quality, resilient, reliable, and supportable solutionsKeep up with technology trends and innovations in reliability engineeringProvide operational support and expert-level troubleshooting for the company’s products and servicesMaintain appropriate controls and documentation to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirementsProvide coaching, mentoring, and/or training as needed to other members of the company’s engineering communityProvide technical leadership and guidance related to reliability to one or more Agile teamsActively foster a culture of engineering excellence across engineering teams and communities of practiceHelp to define the long-term vision for Site Reliability Engineeri, and help to lead the technical execution towards that visionBuild and maintain strong working relationships with operations and engineering teams across the IT organization Seek opportunities for re-use and collaboration across teams to improve processes and capabilities that exceed the scope of a single teamOperate as a trusted advisor, establishing yourself as a company-wide go-to resource for specific technologies, topics, or domainsActively identify and sponsor internal talent and assist with recruiting and evaluation of external talentOther duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Ten+ years of technology experience in a combination of engineering, architecture, and/or management roles.Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.Ability to effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization.Willingness to work in a highly-collaborative environment.Advanced understanding and significant experience with modern software development practices, tools, and/or hardware technologies.Strong understanding of IT security best practices.Deep expertise in one or more technical and/or functional domains relevant to the position.Demonstrated ability to lead teams and organizations in the delivery of strategic and complex technical initiatives.Technical skills per the specific position’s requirements.#LI-RW1
