What You'll Do

As a Site Reliability Engineer within the Webex Platform organization, you will work on a team that collaborates with the software development, operations, IaaS, and incident command teams to deliver high availability cloud services to our customers. You will be accountable for ensuring 5-9’s service availability, making critical metrics operational decisions, and balancing the challenges of delivering stable, high quality, services against speed-to-market needs for rapid delivery of new features and releases.

Responsibilities:Focus on platform reliability. Ensure deployment designs avoid pitfalls of large scale SaaS offerings (bottlenecks, single points of failure, etc.).Focus on efficiency. Solution implementations should minimize operational expense.Drive a shift in thinking towards a DevOps approach. Collaborate with IaaS, Operations, and Software Development teams throughout the development and deployment lifecycle. Ensure operational needs are adequately considered and baked into new product releases.Develop infrastructure (network, compute, storage) & application capacity models.Drive toward automated deployments & innovative ways to configuration management.Define critical metrics, health-check APIs, monitoring & alarming thresholds. Setup clear and accurate SLO/SLI for efficient service monitoringFocus on service availability. Reduce MTTR by assisting the incident command, operations, and IaaS teams to diagnose & resolve service outages (incidents with significant customer impact).Who Are You

You are a SRE who is passionate about building SaaS cloud services in a multitude of mixed environments. You consider yourself a “general technologist” or a “jack-of-all-skills” and rely on a wide breadth of skills to be successful every day. A data-driven, evidence based (metrics, logs, etc.) approach allows you to effectively influence and drive solutions. You are compassionate to your peers and like to collaborate. You can be relied upon in high pressure situations to provide technical guidance and direction.

Basic Qualifications:3+ years extensive experience supporting Ribbon and/or Oracle SBCs3+ years in a traditional operations or preferrably SRE role supporting VoIP applications and services2+ years of Linux experience with bash/shell scripting or the following technologies: networking (IPv4/IPv6) and various protocols (such as SIP, RTP, TLS, DNS, etc.)1+ years of experience with virtualization (VMWare/Openstack/etc) and/or public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI, etc.) and containerizationPreferred Qualifications: In-depth knowledge/experience with PSTN and/or VoIP and relevant protocols such as SIP, H.323, RTP, various media codecs (G.711, Opus, H.264, etc.)Knowledge and experience with supporting/facilitating NNI, SIP trunking including encryptionExperience operating voice and video collaboration services/infrastructureAbility to demonstrate a data driven approach to solving problems, influencing direction, and driving solutionsExcellent written and oral communication skills. Comfortable presenting in front of a group and able to accurately translate complex concepts into simple terms.Enjoy debugging, this role requires superb debugging skills. You're adept at diagnosing issues across multiple layers of the technology stack (application, network, compute, o/s, etc.)Experience leading and operating large complex cloud solutions across private, public and hybrid clouds, is preferred
