About the Role and Team

The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO), reports to an ALMS Senior Corporate Manager and is part of a diverse team providing Base Operations Support and oversees and manages the safety program at Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).  The SSHO is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, assessing risk, and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines to provide a structured management approach to control safety risks in operations.

Your Impact

As an experienced SSHO, you are an integral part of team that manages and enforces a comprehensive safety program that supports the HMX-1, DISA and surrounding facilities and facilities managers to create a safe and compliant workplace environment and minimize hazards to protect employees from occupational risks.  

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an effective safety program to ensure services are performed in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), applicable laws, regulations, and best commercial practices. Prepare and maintain the government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan, ensuring its effective implementation across all project phases. Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention. Monitor compliance to policies, contract specifications, standards and laws through regular inspections of employees and operations. Identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure non-recurrence of defective services. Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions. Prepare and submit regular safety reports and presentations for project stakeholders, including recommendations for continuous improvement. Provide training and support to staff to ensure understanding and adherence to quality standards.
