Overview As a Ski Instructor you are responsible for teaching guests how to ski and enjoy the winter environment. A love of the sport and the desire to continually improve both personal skiing skills and teaching ability are important. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions (including but not limited to): Must be comfortable setting up an environment conducive to safety, fun and learning. Must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, supervisors, and co-workers. Must have a genuine desire to pass on knowledge of the sport and inspire others to enjoy it. Must be able to work outside in extreme and quickly changing winter weather conditions. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment. Must be able to maintain a great guest service attitude while working with beginner students on green terrain throughout the season. Serve First prioritizing the growth, well-being, and empowerment of your team through encouraging and actively participating with them on skill development, and providing an inclusive, welcoming environment with the proper tools, resources, and expectations to perform their role.   Foster a caring safety culture within the department to achieve the goal of zero work-related injuries.   Qualifications Qualifications Are friendly, personable, empathetic, and passionate about winter sports. Attitude is Everything. 18 + years of age. Must have a genuine desire to pass on knowledge of the sport and inspire others to enjoy it. PSIA/AASI Certified Level 1 status not required, but strongly encouraged (or international equivalent). Must be reliable, dependable, and timely. A great guest service personality. A growth mindset (an openness to learning and feedback). Work Environment: The instructor work environment is primarily outdoors in the winter weather. Temperature can vary greatly throughout the day and from day-to-day. Must be able to ski in snow, low visibility, powder, ice, hard pack, rain, sleet. Please speak with your hiring manager regarding the physical requirements for this position. Position Type and expected hours of work: The ski instructor position is full-time, part-time, peak part-time, or temporary based on candidate availability. Typical work day is 8:30am – 4:30pm. Must be available for weekends, weekdays, and holidays. Some instructional programs occur in the evening after 4:30pm but never after 9:00pm. Must have availability during holiday periods (December 26th – 31st, January 18th – 20th, February 15th – 17th).
