Job Description

We are seeking a skilled laborer to join our team, specializing in mechanical insulation and scaffolding services. The role involves working on significant projects, including the Joint Support Ship (JSS) combat vessel and the Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel. Your primary responsibility will be to apply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation on various industrial equipment.

ResponsibilitiesApply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation on industrial equipment such as duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements.Select the appropriate amount and type of insulation and the method of securing it, considering the equipment's temperature, location, and usage.Measure and cut insulating materials and coverings to the required shape and dimensions.Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulation materials and protective coverings.Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces by applying metal cladding, canvas, PVC, or cement.Essential Skills2+ years of construction experience.Ability to operate hand and power tools.Ability to meet security requirements (Permanent Resident or citizen).Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English effectively.Completion of Construction Safety Training System (CSTS).Reliable transportation.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in insulation, carpentry, or sheet metal work is an asset.Strong English communication skills.Canadian citizenship preferred.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

You will be working at Seaspan shipyards in North Vancouver. Parking is available on-site but fills up quickly. The team consists of 36 employees, including a Site Superintendent, one other supervisor, and five foremen. You will work on three different ships with a shift schedule of Monday to Friday, starting at 5:45 am and ending at 4:00 pm, with 10-hour days (8 hours regular, 2 hours overtime).


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.06 - $45.57
