As a Manufacturing Engineer in Skunk Works®, you will play a critical role as liaison between our design engineering teams and the elite women and men responsible for building tomorrow’s future in an advanced manufacturing and technology facility.
You will be an aerospace vehicle systems (fuel, hydraulic, electrical, etc.) expert that will work amongst a team of specialized and professionally engineers to lead producibility reviews, develop manufacturing plans, and guide work instructions generation to directly support the shop floor.
Our team is in development, and there will be an expectation to develop, shape, and document processes for manufacturing engineering standard work. As a vehicle systems expert, you will also mentor earlier career engineers on the discipline. We work cross functionally and engage other organizations as needed to support our common program goals.
This position is in Marietta, GA.
This role may require infrequent travel, extended hours, and possible weekend/off-hour support. We work full time on site. Our team supports programs that may require additional special access in addition to a DoD Secret clearance. This is required prior to start.
Key duties for this position include:
• Serve as subject matter expert across vehicle systems (fuel, hydraulic, electrical, etc.)
• Work in parallel with design engineering, quality engineering, supply chain organizations, environmental safety & health and production operations
• Create 3D manufacturing simulations to drive efficiency throughout the build of our product, perform clash detections, sequence assembly tasks for the lifecycle of the program
• Review critical designs and provide design for manufacturability feedback of all 3D engineering models to reduce cost and positively impact performance at suppliers across the country
• Create Manufacturing Engineering Statement of Work contractual requirements
• Interface with shop floor personnel to help resolve build issues and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
• Create shop aid tooling, analyze shop floor performance and support the Quality organization in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for process-related defects

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience supporting vehicle systems in a production environment
• Experience with production operations and/or engineering
• 3D software CAD experience
• Experience working with Aircraft
• Active DoD Clearance with an Investigation within the last 5 years AND the ability to obtain and maintain special program access per business requirements.
Desired Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree (STEM preferred) with 8+years experience
• Experience working with fuel, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Experience with program start-ups with Manufacturing / Assembly / Production processes
• Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
• Project management experience
• Atlassian Confluence and JIRA experience
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills in vehicle systems manufacturing and test
• Experience Root Cause and Corrective Action, and FMEA
• Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and set up production work cells and facility layout changes
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment or independently to solve problems in a timely manner
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering blueprints, process specifications, manufacturing planning, & develop work instructions
• Ability to effectively present technical information to non-technical people
• Demonstrated ability to drive issues to closure and develop workaround plans or corrective action plans
