SLD System Integration and Analysis Manager - Avionics

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

In this role you will work as the Avionics Integration Manager as part of the MK2 System Integration and Analysis Team. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of systems engineers, you will perform a functional manager and technical leadership role for our Crewed Lunar Lander.  You will be responsible for cultivating and evolving a rightsized workforce, overseeing performance/merits/promotions, coaching team members, and assuring that the team’s work products meet high standards.  As a technical contributor, you will be expected to lead and drive vehicle level trades and studies to ensure optimization of the lander design.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manage your direct reports’ professional development (e.g., hiring, performance reviews, compensation, and promotion management, routine one-on-one development conversations) and coach them on performance.

Coordinate process development and continuous improvement in the Lunar Permanence business unit and with other Blue Origin business units. Champion initiatives from beginning to end.

Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles and Lunar culture.

Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to ensure the optimization of the spacecraft.

Guide the completion of program development in the areas of system integration, interface management, and measuring vehicle technical performance.

Break down technical challenges into actionable steps for team members.

Create and manage interface definitions between subsystems with appropriate control documents and ensure that the configuration supports major design reviews and program milestones.

Ensure coordination of design changes and associated impacts across subsystems.

Support and present at major gated reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical subject area.

Deep technical knowledge of one or more spacecraft subsystems (Avionics, Software, GNC, Electrical Power, etc.)

Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems.

Strong ability and desire to analyze complex systems and deliver solutions to results-oriented problems.

Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

M.S. degree in engineering or related technical subject area.

2+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for leading and mentoring employees.

8+ years of experience in spacecraft systems, including Avionics.

Familiar with agile project management.

Experience with human-rated spacecraft.

Experience developing hardware through all phases of the development lifecycle.


 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $136,620.00-$191,268.00;CO applicants is $125,235.00-$175,329.00;WA applicants is $136,620.00-$191,268.00

Other site ranges may differ
