Job Description

PRN / Nights

The Sleep Technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. A Sleep Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Sleep Lab Technician and may provide supervision of other staff.

Education required: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography OR Successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed &/or nationally accredited educational facility OR equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a polysomnographic technician AND Certification by the American Board of Sleep medicine (ABSM) as a Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or Equivalent, (i.e. Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (R-PSGT) OR National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) OR registry-eligible for RST, R-PSGT, or RRT exam.

Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of one year experience in polysomnography. Clinical experience in respiratory care &/or neuroscience may substitute at ½ rate with experience in polysomnography with documented proficiency at all competencies required of a PSG technician.

Licenses/Certificates REQUIRED: Current active Registered status as RST, R-PSGT, &/or RRT OR registry-eligible for RST, R-PSGT, RRT exam.
Maintains current training in Basic Life Support (BLS). BLS required within 7 days of hire.
