We are seeking a reliable Slitter Operator to join our company. This is a steel production equipment operator position responsible for properly reading and executing work orders to timely meet customer requirements. This non-exempt (hourly) position typically reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. The position requires working in accordance with Triple-S Steel job requirements and Safe Methods of Work. Overtime hours may be required to meet our customers’ needs.

Responsibilities
Follow Triple-S safe methods of work at all times, and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions.Responsible for the processing and slitting of various types of steel coilsMust be able to complete a setup on the slitter arborMust know how to use measuring tools such as micrometer, caliper and tape measuringInspect all material for any imperfections, verifies dimensions and material typesMust be able to read/write EnglishResponsible for accurately following instructions given to them by each individual order that is written up for each machineEnsure prime quality material being producedLead a crew of 5 or more and supervise their daily responsibilitiesMust be a leader and work as a teamMust follow all company policies and proceduresMust report any injuries regarding himself or his crewCreate accurate reports and be able to properly record notes for all orders that they processMust be able to properly communicate any and all issues to upper management as well as to his crewMaintain a clean and productive work areaMust know how to use measuring tools such as micrometer, caliper and tape measurementMust know the different types of material, gages and sizes

Ability to correctly read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.Ability to develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).May be required to demonstrate strong customer relations skills.Physical Requirements:
Use hands/fingers to handle, or feel and talk or hearEmployee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
