**Job Title: Slitter Operator**
**Job Description**
The Slitter Operator is part of a production line crew and is responsible for the preparation and processing of metal in and out of the Slitting Machine. The role involves working with carbon and galvanized steel, ensuring proper handling procedures to prevent damage, and making sure all materials are correctly labeled, identified, and packed. The Slitter Operator also reports any non-conforming metal products and always works safely using appropriate procedures.
**Responsibilities**
+ Utilize proper handling procedures to ensure that metal products are not damaged.
+ Ensure all materials are properly labeled, identified, and packed.
+ Report any non-conforming metal products.
+ Work safely and always use proper procedures.
+ Thread material through the machine by hand initially and then jog it through the cutting press.
+ Thread sheeting through slitter and verify dimensions of cut material.
+ Stack strips on recoiler, adjust guides and roller tension with hand crank, thread edge trim to scrap winder, and start machine.
+ Observe slitting and rewinding operation and examine cut strips for flatness, burrs on edges, and surface defects.

**Work Environment**
The work environment is a steel distribution center, which can be temperature-controlled but may be dirty and physically demanding. The job offers a competitive hourly rate and has two available shifts: 1st shift (5:30 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday) and 2nd shift (1:30 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday – Friday).
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin Park, Illinois.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
