Slitter Operator I - Night Shift

Position: Slitter Operator I

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

Wage: $20.44/HR - Shift Differential $2.00/HR

Shift: 5:45pm - 6:15am Rotating Schedule

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•     Set up and operate Core Cutting and Multiple Roll Wrapping Department Machines

•     Cut cores to size for slitter, ensuring proper supplies of cores for Slitting Jobs.

      When Roll Wrapping –

•     Weigh plastic rolls and label properly.

•     Wrap Rolls according to Job Order specifications.

•     Palletize rolls and deliver to finished goods area.

•     Follow GMP’s, PRP’s, productions SOP’s, 5S and DTM.

•     Back up to Slitter Operator for break relief.

•     Paperwork and data entry in Shop Floor.

•     Must participate in SPS Pillar Teams as needed, including LCE /5-star Participation.

•     Responsible for quality checks prior to running jobs, includes read Cust Specs.

•     Conduct final inspection of rolls according to Final Inspection procedure

•     Ensure that the Allergen Control requirements are applied during slitting of Combo jobs

•     Report all unsafe acts and conditions to the department leads and managers immediately.

•     Responsible for quality and safety and safe operational procedures.

•     Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to the job.

•     Report all Food Safety violations to management.

•     Follow all safety rules.

•     Cover vacant positions on other shifts as needed.

•     All other duties assigned by manager.

•     Performs DTM prior to begin working in the Machine.

•     Help to Perform PM on Machine when gets on schedule.

•     Enter DATA in Quality Companion when require.

•     Issue a Work Order when Machine or Parts are Required, follow MVP  Procedures.

•     Communicate pertinent matters of the machine or job with the Operator at Shift Change.

Other duties as assigned.Participate in Sonoco’s Performance System (SPS) activities as required – 5Star, Pillar Teams, Audits, Near Misses, etc.Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are required and expected for job performance.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent job experience
