Slitter Technician - Part-Time

We are seeking Slitter Technicians (Part-Time) ($21.85/hr) for our First Quality Tissue facility located in Anderson, SC. Slitter Technicians are responsible for complete operation and partial maintenance of slitter including line setup/changeover, housekeeping, organization of materials, trial execution, and evaluation of products converted. The potential candidate should have hands on mechanical and electrical skills, be able to work in teams, and assist process development manager to keep a clean and safe environment while ensuring compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements.

Primary responsibilities include:

Daily Operation, maintenance, and housekeeping of slitter which includes mobile equipment operations.

Implement safety systems and 5S program for slitter.

Organize (documentation of trial plans and execution) all trials on slitter.

Maintain spare parts, operating supplies, vital supplies, etc. for slitter.

Manage process of securing paper from warehouse for slitting purposes through loading finished slit rolls on outbound trailers.

Maintain log of converted rolls through slitter.

Manage parent roll and finished product inventories, production, and shipments.

Communicate consumed parent rolls and produced finished rolls with QA and finance.

Support development of operating procedures/forms for all slitter equipment and processes.

Keep all slitter equipment and procedures updated including MSDS file, safety manual, LOTO, and machine calibrations.

Observe all safety rules and use the proper safety equipment at all times.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Bachelor’s/Technical degree or 2-5 years working swing shifts.  Need to be able to work 15 to 25 hours per week.

General understanding or experience in manufacturing

Ability to work within and lead in a High Performance Work System at multiple locations (lead without authority).

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to work with a diverse, cross-functional team of professionals to deliver against key objectives and timelines.

Strong work ethic and be a self-starter with minimal supervision.

Attention to detail.

Focus on getting results in a timely manner.

Hands on mechanical/electrical skills.

Good analytical/troubleshooting skills.

Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office applications such as Word and Excel.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) proficiency.
