Slitting Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

**Job Description:**
**$2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS! $250 paid at hire, $500 paid at 3/6/9 months, $750 paid after one year of employment.**
**3rd shift hours are Su-Th 10:00pm to 6:30am. Starting pay is $17.50 plus $1.25/hour shift premium.**
The primary responsibility of this position is setup and operation of multi-blade slitting machines to cut and wind large rolls of ink-coated polypropylene or polyester film into smaller rolls as determined by customer specification. Operators are also responsible for quality testing, material handling, data entry and packing duties.
**Essential Duties**
+ Load/unload materials, machine components and completed work product from machine. Includes loading/unloading shafts, cores and/or spacers; feeding film through rollers and attaching to cores; setting blades and/or blade bar according to specifications; attaching leader/trailer materials; placing, aligning, and securing fixtures, guides, sensors, rollers, tension bars or other mechanisms.
+ Set machine controls and make needed adjustments before and during machine operations using machine’s computerized and/or manual controls including speed, cutting tension, pressure, etc.
+ Clear machinery jams and/or malfunctions. Make required film splices and rethreads of broken film.
+ Inspect completed work; may include plugging and gauging rolls or other quality checks.
+ Record production run quantities, job orders, product and material consumption, machinery down times, and other production/order related data and enter into company ERP system.
+ Prepare product for shipment. May include trimming and/or pressing rolls; applying flanges; printing and applying tags and/or labels to rolls and boxes; bagging rolls; packing rolls into boxes; banding with strapping machine; lifting/carrying and transporting boxes from packing bench to pallet, inventory shelf or other designated area.
+ Ensure machines are routinely maintained. Clean machine and machine components using chemicals/solvents (i.e. methyl ethyl ketone) between production runs as needed.
+ Ensure that specific product material stocks are available and ready for production runs, and that items in low supply are replaced.
+ Use hydraulic lift, electric floorwalker or carts as needed to move and/or handle jumbo rolls of product and/or packed boxes of product.
+ Cross train on slitting equipment in other teams, and assist other slitter operators as needed.
+ Observe all operation and safety rules and procedures.

+ High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
+ Basic computer/keyboarding experience preferred including data entry and lookups.
+ Ability to work overtime/flexible shift as business needs dictate
+ Physical requirements include constant standing/walking, use of upper extremities to handle/manipulate, and ability to visually identify product quality defects; frequent twisting/turning, and lift/carry/reach with ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
+ Prior applicable manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.
