We are seeking a Small Craft/Boat Marine Surveyor to support the Navy in Chula Vista, CA. In this role, you will conduct inspections, surveys, or examinations of navy vessels to assess, monitor and report on the condition. It also involves coordinating, scheduling, and administering repair work on U.S. Navy ships, including ship inspections, safety monitoring, material control, quality assurance, cost and schedule management, test and certification coordination, technical and contractual recommendations, and reporting. Responsibilities Supports boat and associated equipment surveys and assists in the development of detailed statements of work to support industrial work for Intermediate and Depot level maintenance requirements.Supports the review of contracted work and acts as the technical representative, working with the Type Desk and TPOC, for the subsequent repair/maintenance availability period through redelivery of the boat to the operating unit.Utilizes automated data processing equipment and various software programs mandated for government use for the preparation of work specifications during planning of small boat repair and modernization availabilities.Assists repair availabilities, and coordinates, schedules and administers assigned repair work to ensure that planning functions are completed in time to permit orderly work list preparation, screening, and specification preparation.Reviews contract specifications, drawings, technical manuals, and design test requirements to determine and evaluate contractor compliance, progress and work quality.Researches Boat Alterations and Liaison Action Records (LARs).Reviews surveys, survey crafts, and completes boat checks.Researches Government Furnished Material (GFM).Reviews and processes Condition Found Reports (CFRs).Up to 10% O/CONUS TravelTrips are typically 1-2 days.Common destinations include Pt Hueneme, CA, Pt. Mugu, CA, and Seal Beach, CA. Education/QualificationsRequired:
Active U.S. Dept. of Defense Secret clearance.High School diploma or equivalent.3+ years of hands-on technical experience in the installation, testing, troubleshooting fault isolation and repair of shipboard systems/equipment including:2+ years of specialized full-time hands-on technician experience in assembly, overhaul, repair, modification, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of shipboard systems and equipment.Strong written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.Perform work with a minimum of supervisory assistance and in compliance with prior engineering determination.Ability to support up to 10% OCONUS travel.For this role, the compensation range for candidates in California is $70 - 85K.
