Gartner's Advanced Manufacturing Team is seeking a Director for Smart Manufacturing who can foresee emerging trends and drive transformative change. This role requires a candidate with a strong IT or engineering background, adept at advising C-suite executives and technology firms. We value creativity, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning. Experience in producing reports, white papers, articles, or delivering presentations is highly advantageous.
What You Will Do:
Support Gartner vision, values, and business priorities through your actions, development and support of your team and of the businessCollaborate with your team manager, content leaders and other experts to develop and deliver innovative content that provides practical insights and guidelines for smart manufacturing Drive client retention by efficiently creating high-quality content (including published and presented) that clients consume and valueLead research initiatives and deliver actionable strategies to address client needs Conduct analyses to identify client challenges, and help them reshape their perspectives for strategic advancement Demonstrate thought leadership and offer independent insights to content leaders Anticipate market trends to furnish clients and vendors with future roadmaps Provide tailored guidance to clients through virtual or in-person interactions Deliver high value, actionable, timely client interactions leveraging high value Gartner content Produce and present high-impact materials for Gartner events and client briefings Support research and sales by imparting market intelligence and fostering client engagement Mentor junior team members and engage in discussions on innovation and researchWhat You Will Need:
A bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience in manufacturing and IT or an equivalent combination of education and experience Native-level Japanese and business-level English as this position reports outside Japan Proficiency in smart manufacturing technologies, including IIoT, AI, robotics, and automation and, ideally, knowledge about lights-out factories Experience in manufacturing engineering roles, including product and process advancement and quality assurance Familiarity with IT Solutions like EAM, MES, ERP, including experience with industry standards for connectivity and communication in smart manufacturing Expertise in data management and analytics to enhance productivity and quality Enthusiasm for writing and conducting presentations to convey complex ideas effectively Strong collaboration skillsBonus Experience:
Hands-on experience with AI technologies, such as computer vision, machine learning, and RPA Fluency in a third language (Mandarin, Korean, etc) Knowledge of space industrialization and of standards organizations, offering a unique perspective on smart manufacturing Familiarity with strategies to reduce barriers for SMEs adopting smart manufacturing technologies Working knowledge of data security and cybersecurity considerations for manufacturing ecosystems
