SMAW Welder $45/Hr + $120 in Per Diem

Job Description

Work will be performed in a shipyard, either on a Navy vessel or in a shop environment. Working on the next generation of the naval fleet. New construction on nuclear powered aircraft carriers and submarines.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to comprehend complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, and will be familiar with OSHA regulations.

ResponsibilitiesPerform single/Multi pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process.Operate burning-oxygen/propane burning torches and heating-oxygen/propane heating torches.Interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, and datum and reference lines.Comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler.Lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly.Assemble structural piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner.Work in a physically demanding environment, such as shipbuilding and steel fabrication.Follow OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry.Use vibratory tools such as grinders and needle guns.Additional Skills & Qualifications4+ years of experience with SMAW and fitting. The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
