We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) are the are the lifeblood of society, representing ~50% of global GDP, they are a critical part of PayPal’s business. The PayPal SMB team sets the global commercial priorities for how we help SMBs to sell more effectively using PayPal’s platform, by helping define differentiated value propositions and effective sales, servicing and marketing strategies, and unlocking new growth opportunities via partnerships and new product development.

Your way to impact

As the Regional Head of SMB, reporting to the Director, SMB Europe, you will be accountable for the financial performance of the SMB portfolio in one of our largest European sub-regions. You will be responsible for defining SMB priorities for their region based on our global commercial SMB strategy and priorities, overseeing and coordinating the cross-functional execution of these priorities with e.g. local sales, marketing and product teams. To do so, you will have to work effectively with cross-functional teams to make sure all local stakeholders are aligned to the overall segment plan, and have a regular cadence with them to ensure they understand the drivers of performance in the portfolio.


Your day-to-day
 

Accountable for the financial performance of the local SMB portfolio

Accountable to local country GMs to deliver the E2E country SMB strategy, and lead delivery with local cross-functional teams 

Responsible for delivering multi-region initiatives to create value for the SMB portfolio across Southern Europe

Define local SMB priorities based on global commercial SMB strategy

Oversee and reduce friction in the execution of local SMB priorities across functions (e.g.  inside sales, marketing, partner, product, paypal.com, developer, pricing, risk, customer service, etc.)

Hands-on execution coordination of global and local cross-functional initiatives that are not related to the launch of a new product capability

Analyze, interpret, and communicate SMB performance to a senior audience of country and regional leads

Identify risks and opportunities based on a deep understanding of SMB performance drivers

Identify unique local SMB needs, market trends and changes to the competitive landscape

Propose changes to strategy and tactics to improve performance, or in response to changing market conditions

What you need to bring


You'll have a good understanding of the needs of small and medium businesses and will track local trends and the performance of PayPal’s local SMB portfolio in order to identify local risks or opportunities in the overall SMB strategy, and adapt the local plan accordingly.

Experience in leading and influencing large cross-functional teams to a clear outcome

Experience in business case development, market and opportunity sizing and preparing strategic recommendations for senior executives

Demonstrated ability to simplify complex topics while not losing sight of detail

Excellent ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and delivery

Strong quantitative analytical skills, able to manage through data and insights to build compelling and innovative strategies

Very strong customer focus, naturally including customer perspective in plans, decisions and actions

Experience leading complex strategic and operational initiatives, working through technical, operational, legal/policy and business issues

Experience at the forefront of the B2B sector with a passion for serving SMBs in an innovative and global environment

5+ years working in a business strategy or commercial management capacity

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a natural talent for crafting and presenting compelling recommendations at C-level

Experience in the fintech or payments space a plus, but not mandatory

French, Spanish, or Italian language proficiency is a plus but not mandatory
