As part of the Asset Management Team, the Engineer will be responsible for providing expert technical knowledge and applying this technical expertise to ensure Carnival Corporation has world-leading and fully optimized data & maintenance philosophies available across all Brands in their Technical Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS). Ensuring the data being entered into the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) of vessels is of the highest possible quality, meeting all required legislation and optimized to provide significant business benefit. This will involve the analysis of all assets fitted to the vessels in connection with the users and manufacturers. Responsible for building relationships and collaborating with our Brands to ensure we have a consensus on optimized data and maintenance philosophies.
Essential Functions:
Technical and/or Professional Responsibilities Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Carnival Group shared asset management database based on unified functional structure and part codification with related procedures for planned maintenance, stock, and inventory optimization. To develop, as directed by the Data Manager, and maintain a system providing standardized information and data analysis related to the performance of Carnival Group fleet assets. Responsible for the proactive review and analysis of Carnival Group fleet asset performance data, benchmarking asset performances between ships, equipment, makers, and 3rd party data, identifying common failures, and formulating suitable corrective actions to review with Brands. Accountable for providing feedback on new vessel design to identify solutions that reduce the total ownership cost of Carnival Group fleet assets. Accountable for PMS development, to ensure that all statutory and Company safety and operational standards and requirements are observed throughout. This includes maintaining contact and liaising with the relevant departments of Carnival Corporation operating companies as applicable, within the levels determined by the Data Manager. Accountable for continually updating the Planned Maintenance System of the vessels to ensure that accurate and updated records of all items are maintained. Accountable to ensure conformity of the asset management database and associated planned maintenance system comply fully with relevant legislation and optimal safety/reliability of the fleet. To maintain contact with other divisions within Carnival Group, other shipping companies, Classification Societies, Regulatory Bodies, Professional Bodies, sub-contractors, and equipment manufacturers within the levels determined by the Data Manager to continually monitor developments in the field of defined responsibility. Accountable for proactive continual review of manufacturer documentation upgrades, all relevant legislation, and Company regulations whether in force, coming into force, or under consideration that could affect the PMS of the vessels and informs the Data Manager of findings. To keep appraised of current and changing asset management, stock, and inventory optimization operational practices in the Carnival Corporation/industry in general and receive and act on feedback on the performance of vessels in service. Support the Asset Management Team in strategic initiatives related to maintenance and technical inventory. To become fully familiar with Carnival Corporation Asset Management systems and PMS. To become fully familiar with the overall asset management strategy implemented by Carnival Corporation at a corporate level. To provide support to operational departments of Carnival Group operating companies and the Corporate Maritime Policy & Compliance department. To develop collaborative relationships with Carnival Group stakeholders at all levels to ensure best practices and consistency across the Group. To ensure that accurate and comprehensive records are maintained of any meetings or agreements held or made with Carnival Corporation internal or external members. As the ships are operated by different entities, this role requires close cooperation with the shipyards, suppliers, brands, and other internal departments within Carnival Corporation to keep apprised of current and changing asset management, stock, and inventory optimization operational practices in the Carnival Corporation/industry in general and receive and act on feedback on the performance of vessels in service. Problem solving: Identify new working methods to improve the asset information and data analysis. Support and consult all brands in the Carnival Corporation in the planned maintenance system-related matters. Impact: Ensuring a high accuracy of the database content in order to get a positive result to process the asset information. The role shall also positively impact the reliability of assets and associated lifetime costs, stock, and inventory.Qualifications:
Degree in Marine/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in the shipping and/or shipbuilding industry. Operational knowledge of modern vessel layout, machinery functions, and planned maintenance systems. Licensed Marine Engineer preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Involvement in large cruise vessel construction and/or operation. Involvement with inspecting, to Class regulations and build specifications, and conduction of systems and equipment. Experience in dealing with suppliers, shipyard management, and subcontractors. Experience in maintenance management systems and ISO standards. Experience with AMOS and Excel.This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
