In this position... 

The Vehicle Environmental Regulatory Strategy and Compliance Department is responsible for establishing policies, strategies and providing independent oversight to ensure vehicle compliance, enhance real world impact and protect the corporate reputation.

In this position... You will work with regulatory authorities to understand proposed regulations and to help shape them to achieve our shared goal of sustainable solutions for a better world. We cooperate with public domain organizations, NGOs, lawmakers, and regulators to ensure new legislation, procedures, and regulations are technically feasible, support the cycle plan, enable new technologies and make the world a better place

You'll have... 

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering.

Strong basis of understanding of Ford’s processes (technology development, product development, design validation and verification, vehicle operations and potential defect investigations). Positive problem-solving attitude and conflict resolution skills. Ability to collaborate and connect cross-functionally to implement transformative process improvements. Strong communication and cross-functional networking skills. Strong decision making skills and resolve to raise issues to the right people at the right time. Ability to critically evaluate data to make key decisions.

This position is a range of salary grades 5-8 .

What you'll do...

Enhance our relationships with regulatory personnel and other key stakeholders so that Ford is viewed with a high level of trust and integrity. Develop the company's policy positions and responses to proposed regulations and legislation dealing with:  Fuel Economy, Fuel Consumption, Climate Change, Vehicle Greenhouse Gases, and Mobile Air Conditioning. Vehicle CO2 and Criteria Emissions, Mobile Source Air Toxics, and Zero Emissions Mandates. EV & Charging Standards, Battery Durability/Recycling, and EV Infrastructure.   Fuel Specifications, and Low Carbon and Renewable Fuels. Forecast and communicate future regulatory requirements to support Ford’s cycle plan development.  Provide regulatory and technical input to the company on vehicle environmental and energy issues. Facilitate technical exchanges between Ford, regulatory authorities, and other key stakeholders. Participate in cooperative programs with regulators, OEMs, public domain organizations, and others. Work with cross functional organizations within Ford (Product Development engineering, Planning, Marketing, Legal, Government Affairs) to develop and deliver charging standards and infrastructure specifications, technologies and strategy for all global regions. Develop and maintain deep expertise on regulations and standards related to charging and energy services, for example: Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC), State Public Utility Commissions (PUCs), State Energy Offices, Electrical Codes (NFPA), etc.
