Eldora Mountain Resort employs up to 700 employees at peak season and has 680 acres of lift-accessible terrain for skiing and snowboarding, including a Woodward Mountain Park experience, and a world class Nordic Center.
Eldora Ski Resort is seeking a skilled and experienced Snowplow Supervisor to oversee our overnight snow removal operations. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for clearing parking lots, walkways, and other resort areas to ensure a safe and accessible environment for guests and staff. The role requires expertise in operating heavy machinery, including front-end loaders with plow attachments, skid steers, and plow trucks. The Snowplow Supervisor will coordinate and manage the overnight snow removal crew, ensuring efficiency and safety. This individual will track incoming weather and schedule shifts for staff that’s on-call accordingly. They will ensure strong communication with the Grounds and Facilities Manager regarding upcoming weather events and needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership:
Lead and supervise a team of snowplow operators during the overnight shift.
Train and mentor team members on proper equipment usage and safety protocols.
Monitor work performance, providing feedback and support as needed.
Snow Removal Operations:
Oversee the operation of front-end loaders, skid steers, and plow trucks to clear snow from parking lots, walkways, and other resort areas.
Coordinate with the Grounds and Facilities Manager to prioritize snow removal tasks based on weather conditions and resort needs.
Monitor weather to strategize removal routes and times
Ensure that all snow removal is performed efficiently and meets the resort's standards.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce safety regulations and ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols.
Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and report any issues to the maintenance team.
Respond to any snow removal emergencies or equipment malfunctions during the shift.
Communication & Coordination:
Maintain clear communication with the Grounds and Facilities Manager and other resort staff regarding snow removal progress and any potential issues.
Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and ready for use at the start of each shift.
Keep accurate records of snow removal activities, including hours worked and areas cleared.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in snow removal operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Proficiency in operating heavy machinery, including front-end loaders, skid steers, and plow trucks.
Experience working in a ski resort or similar environment is preferred.
Background in OSHA and safety standards required.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work overnight shifts in extreme weather conditions, including cold temperatures and heavy snowfall.
Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and operating heavy machinery for extended periods.
Certifications:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Snow removal and heavy equipment operation certifications are a plus.
Work Environment:
The position requires working outdoors in winter weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, and ice.
Overnight shifts may vary depending on weather conditions and operational needs.

Basic Requirements:

Compensation:
Proposed hiring rate of $24+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
