Overview Snowmaker is a full-time, hourly, seasonal position at The Highlands Resort. With 435 skiable acres on 55 runs and a vertical drop of 552 feet, The Highlands is the largest ski area in Michigan and has the highest vertical terrain in the lower peninsula. Your primary focus as a snowmaker is to produce machine-made snow for skiers and riders while striving for quality and efficiency to help ensure early-season ski terrain as well as season longevity. Load, transport, set up, and operate snowmaking equipment on ski slopes using high-pressure water and air. Check hoses, nozzles, pipelines, valves, and other related equipment for repair or adjustment. Reposition equipment periodically to direct snowfall to other sections of the trail. This will require using a ladder to adjust tower-mounted snow machines. Monitor, recognize and adjust production as appropriate. Participate in daily snow plans and safety briefs.Flexibility to do other support jobs around the ski area when temperatures are not favorable to make snow. Examples: Repairing hose, glade work, painting equipment, and other odd jobs in preparation for ski season. Regularly clean dirt and frozen snow from equipment and hoses. Shoveling snow from doors, hatches, and around work areas. Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing; assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the whole resort and the safety of guests and team members; accepting diverse assignments; maintaining a friendly and positive attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions. Perform regular snow quality checks and calibrate equipment accordingly. Utilize safe and proper snowmobile and off-road vehicle operation. Working hours may need to be flexible schedule which is based on mountain needs, weather, and snowmaking plans. This could include working many days in a row if weather conditions are favorable. Qualifications Valid State Driver's License Able to work outside on feet for an extended period of time Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift *Single Bed, no pets.
