The Washington Nationals are seeking a Social Media Intern for the 2025 season to fill a key seasonal position within the Marketing Department. You will be working directly with our Social Media Team, Nationals players, mascots and more to help create content for and execute the digital voice of the Washington Nationals. This position will be tasked with projects in the office and during both home and road (remote) games. The associate will need to be available to work in person at Nationals Park in Washington, DC from approximately February/March – October 2025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with social strategy, ideation, execution and management of club’s social media platforms including Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Assist in maintaining organizational social media calendar. Keep track of and organize all social media posts, initiatives and campaigns throughout the season through Sprout Social. Assist with weekly analytics reports. Assist in creating and developing social media campaigns. Assist social media manager in managing auxiliary accounts within the organization, including Nationals Player Development, Los Nacionales and others as assigned. Research and monitor other team and league social accounts and digital trends to develop new concepts, ideas and best practices. Assist with submitting creative requests for graphics and collaborate with design team for Slate assets. Assist social media team with uploading content to YouTube. Attend Nationals home games and assist in gathering and posting social media content featuring Marketing and Community events, fans and game action (especially pre-game and post-game) with a heavy emphasis on Facebook and Instagram Stories. Gain experience in a professional press box setting and learn the gameday workflow of the Nationals social team both on-field and in the press box. Communicate and collaborate with MLB and departments throughout the Nationals organization on digital and social media initiatives throughout the season. Other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in digital media, communications or relevant field or equivalent work experience. Previous experience in social media and experience working in a professional or collegiate sports gameday environment. Understanding of internet culture and remaining up-to-date with social media standards and trends. Proficient with Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and the Adobe Creative Suite preferred with graphic design and video editing experience. Background in photography and/or videography preferred. Attendance at most Nationals home games as well as remote coverage of most Nationals road games. Knowledge of baseball. Social media analytics and/or reporting experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a professional attitude. Strong writing skills preferred. Ability to work from February/March through the end of the 2025 season. Available to work 35-40 hours weekly, including holidays, evenings and weekends.Physical/Environmental Requirements
Office: Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires weekend and/or evening work whenever there are games or events scheduled. Gameday: Job requires employee to function occasionally in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue. May work at heights. Employee will be exposed to inclement weather of varying degrees. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for long periods of time, walk long distances, and climb up/down stairs. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Must be able to be productive in an environment where the noise level can be high. Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by schedule and deadlines.
Compensation:
The projected wage rate for this position is $17.50 per hour. Actual pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s: qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications, and other organization requirements. Starting salaries for new employees are frequently not at the top of the applicable salary range.
