About the Marketing and Communication department at Humber:
Through writing, photos and videos, Humber's Marketing and Communications Office tells the unparalleled experience of being a Humber student. As an institution wide resource to both internal and external audiences, we deliver marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, social media, and web strategy services to tell the brilliant stories of Humber Polytechnic students and staff.

About the Role:

If you are passionate about creating thumb stopping content that informs, entertains and reflects the student experience, this opportunity might be for you. The Manager, Social Media is responsible for overseeing and implementing a content strategy that prioritizes authentic and shareable content and understands that SEO is critical to the new reality of social media as search engine.

Reporting to the Director, Communications, the Manager, Social Media is responsible for leading the operation of central social media accounts and the creation of social and digital content and online community engagement strategies for Humber Polytechnic. This includes developing strategy, implementing plans, enforcing standards, and using trends, technology, software and social media channels to strengthen Humber’s digital, social and online presence. The Manager, Social Media monitors, tracks, collates, develops, contributes to, shares and curates digital and social content across Humber’s social media properties while working to connect and build relationships between Humber’s social communities. The Manager is responsible for the integration of Humber’s brand “Builders of Briliance” into content strategy and creative tone. The Manager, Social Media responds to social media inquiries, and is responsible for overseeing team members to respond to social media inquiries. The incumbent coordinates with the Registrar’s Office/Contact Centre and International to ensure high levels of customer service and consistency in messaging. The Manager, Social Media is the primary responder for internal questions about social media strategy and platforms, sharing best practices and providing subject matter expertise. The Manager, Social Media is responsible for monitoring, managing and contributing to Humber’s social media channels during periods of emergency and issues management, as required. The Manager supports paid social media strategy, campaigns and posts.

Education
The successful candidate will have a Degree in Communications, PR, Journalism or other relevant discipline (a 3-year diploma/degree plus postgraduate credential in the above or related field is also acceptable)

Experience
The candidate will have a minimum of five years of related work experience and show demonstrated experience in the following areas: developing digital content and social media strategy, overseeing online communities and managing a team of people.

Skills

Proficiency as an administrator for major social media platforms, including but not limited to X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, Reddit and Bluesky; and software/services such as Hootsuite, Emplifi, TINT, ZeroFox, Brandwatch, Sprout Social. Expertise with Google Analytics and other analytics platforms.The ability to make data-driven decisions and familiarity with online media trends and technologies are assets.
