Job Summary: 
Blavity Inc. is looking for a part-time Social Media Producer to support daily content development and programming for a forthcoming initiative surrounding environmental content. The Social Media Producer Is responsible for the creation and distribution of social media content including but not limited to vertical videos, infographics, and static graphics. This role partners closely with the Editorial and Content Marketing teams. The ideal candidate has strong skills in social copywriting, organization,  and photo editing and a passion for all things Black culture and news.
 

This (W2) Contractor will report directly to the Social Media Managing Editor, Blavity, working a maximum of 10 hours per week. 

Contractors will be responsible for providing their own equipment, including but not limited to laptop computers, cell phones, or any other electronic equipment required to perform their role.

Responsibilities:

Partner with senior leadership on content initiatives, social strategy, operations, and research/analysisOwn end-to-end production of daily content and programmingBuild effective relationships with colleagues throughout the Blavity organization to support synergy across company’s Owned & Operated brandsCollaborate with the Audience Development and Data Analytics teams to maximize story and post reach and ensure the brand is meeting site-wide growth goals

Qualifications: 

Education: B.A. in Journalism or related fieldRequired Experience: 2+ yrs of content creation production experienceStrong knowledge of video editing for social platformsExperience with analytics and listening toolsA demonstrated ability to write engaging social media copy across a range of topics, and for a variety of audiencesPreferred Experience:Strong knowledge of design elements and principles — You understand the systems of graphic design in order to create work that is both aesthetically pleasing and effective2+ yrs of content development for Gen Z and Millennial demographics Technologies: Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Asana, and/or comparable project management suiteAdditional Qualifications:A strong interest in viral marketing and social media trendsKnowledge of, passion for, and experience with social-media platforms, both established and emerging including but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and TwitterHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects independently Independent, entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibilityThe ability to articulate project needs and timelines clearly and effectivelyHigh-energy, company-first, positive attitude; must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and analytical skills; outgoing and sociable; willing to wear multiple hats Naturally detail-oriented, with an obsessive need to document and communicate findingsA healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture

Details: 

This is a fully remote role, U.S.- based role. Occasional travel may be required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.Candidates must be available to work in alignment with the Pacific Time Zone 25% and Eastern Time Zone 75%. This a part time, contract position with an hourly rate of $25 - $30/hr depending on experience.
