The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Social Media Specialist will enhance brand awareness, drive engagement, and contribute to follower growth across various social media platforms, with a focus on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter). The role will manage WWP's social media presence, create and curate compelling content, and engage with WWP followers while communicating organizational priorities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Generate interest in WWP programs and services while growing followership and building community with WWP followers on social media platforms, e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and YouTube.
+ Develop and create engaging social media content for WWP's platforms, ensuring it reflects the organization's voice and maintains a consistent social media look and feel.
+ Monitor social media conversations for WWP mentions and trending topics, respond with approved messaging, and foster positive engagement when relevant.
+ Manage vendors acting as moderators on WWP’s social media platforms to ensure effective community management, timely responses, and appropriate referrals to WWP services when necessary.
+ Respond to posts or social inquiries using approved standard messaging.
+ Develop engaging content for TikTok with a TikTok-first approach and engage with the organization’s TikTok community.
+ Monitor emerging online technologies and identify opportunities to expand WWP’s social media presence on new platforms.
+ Create multimedia content to support WWP’s social media strategy, including photography, video creation, and editing.
+ Collaborate with the social media team to create content and maintain the social media content calendar.
+ Serve as the subject matter expert and advise internal partners on best practices for platform-specific best practices, audience insights, and trends.
+ Prepare monthly and quarterly social media analytics reports to provide insights for internal and external stakeholders.
+ Work closely with strategic and community partners to create and share impactful social messaging.
+ Design social media campaign plans that support organizational priorities, identifying opportunities to increase awareness of WWP and deepen understanding of its programs and services.
+ Assist in social media crisis communications.
+ Collaborate with internal departments, strategic partners, and influencers to create and share compelling messaging that amplifies WWP’s mission.
+ Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
+ Proven understanding of performance metrics for social media success and search engine optimization (SEO) tactics.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of social media management tools, such as Sprout Social and other relevant platforms.
+ Strong expertise and working knowledge of social media platforms and channels, e.g., Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to create content aligned with the organization’s voice.
+ Working knowledge of communication principles, including Associated Press (AP) style.
+ Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to effectively complete assignments and meet deadlines.
+ Working knowledge of data analytics, performance metrics, and trend analysis.
+ Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
+ Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships and interact effectively with diverse individuals to build successful working partnerships.
+ High energy level; self-starter with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, multi-task, work independently, and perform well under pressure.
+ Skilled in delivering high-quality service to a targeted client or customer base.
+ Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and identify viable solutions.
+ Ability to travel.

EXPERIENCE
Requirements
+ Four years of experience in social media, including content creation, messaging, analytics, and reporting.
+ Four years of experience in copywriting, editing, design, photography, videography, and creative content development.
Preferences
+ Four years of military experience or four years of experience working for a veteran service organization.
+ Two years of experience with Adobe Creative Cloud: Adobe Premier, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.
EDUCATION
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in social media, marketing, communications, public relations, or journalism. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
+ General office environment; temperature controlled.
