SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for all components of social services programs including food pantry, holiday services, basic needs/direct client assistance and support to individuals and families in need of care. The position works with individuals/families and service providers to maximize delivery of services.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate the food pantry service, organize and categorize Corps’ clothing room and acquire volunteers from agencies such as Pro Action, RSVP, and local community for assistance with the food pantry and/or clothing room.
• Maintain an inventory of existing services relative to the needs of clients and make client assistance referrals as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, officers and agency information.
• Develop, orient, and assist in the management of volunteers for various social service programs.
• Oversee the apprehension and schedule of volunteers annually to prepare meals for weekly Shepherd’s Table feeding program. Assure and make available for Shepherd’s Table volunteers that they have the supplies to make and serve meals.
• Arrange for transportation and delivery of food and necessary items.
• Manage the reporting requirements for social services funding , EFSP, UW, SA Turbo Stats, etc.
• Coordinate Back-to-School Program and Camp applications for Long Point Camp and other social services initiatives.
• Assist with Christmas Assistance application process, clearinghouse, and distribution process. Process Red Kettle Worker daily during Christmas Red Kettle Program.
• Develop, implement, and manager tools/systems for records management, both hard copies and electronic documents.
• Prepare written step by step explanation of job duties and place them in a procedural manual using examples and exhibits.
• Attend community social service meetings.

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s with three years of experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent typing and computer skills in Microsoft Word, client database and Excel.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
• Participate in team settings and have relevant experience in serving children and families in child welfare, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, primary health care, or social services.
• Experience coordinating and working in teams.
• Work effectively and knowledgeably across a broad spectrum of cultural, ethnic, and racial communities.
• Ability to work in an effective and focused manner when self-directed and beyond immediate oversight.
• Ability to deliver family-driven, youth-guided services.
• Requires word processing skills and the ability to provide culturally competent practice.
• Must have valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
• Provide assistance and/or intervention for families.
• Perform all duties associated with job responsibilities.
