The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to ensure delivery of services and answer inquiries to the social service clients and community within the geographic boundaries of Solano County, and to help execute seasonal programs, such as holiday and back-to-school shopping of The Salvation Army as directed by the supervisor. The Social Services Ministry Worker will determine client needs, provide quality service, and treat all clients with respect. The execution of service delivery shall be in a manner consistent with the traditional ethics, methods, and purpose of The Salvation Army.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Execution of daily social services programs in accordance with the welfare assistance guidelines as established by the Corps Officer.
2. Direct clients to appropriate crisis counseling and intervention.
3. Operate the emergency food pantry with help from volunteers.
4. Ensure that there is a nutritionally balanced resource of food and commodities on hand.
5. Maintain a ready level of food supply, food bags for clients and rotate inventory to minimize spoilage discards.
6. Assist truck driver in delivery off-loading of food supplies upon arrival from vendors.
7. Maintain food inventories as they arrive.
8. Follow all Salvation Army accounting procedures for financial and gift-in-kind matters as instructed.
9. Ensure all client information is entered in The Salvation Army Wellsky program daily.
10. Record work times daily.
11. Participate in all training as required.
12. Maintain and keep clean all Salvation Army owned property and equipment that is utilized.
13. Ensure safe operation of all equipment within scope of assignment and report any needed repairs/replacement needs to supervisor immediately upon discovery.
14. Always represent The Salvation Army in a professional manner.
15. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
16. Ability to assist with special event.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma or GED equivalency.
2. Must be 18 years of age.
3. 2 years of experience working with the public and social services preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
2. Must be 21 years or older.
3. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Live scan Fingerprint check.
4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Frequent lifting of 50 pounds from floor to table or shelf height.
2. Good mobility to bend and dexterity to grasp, and reach.
3. Ability to stand for up to three hours during work activities or sit for up to 30 minutes without standing during office/ clerical activities.
