Job Details Job ID: 4916526 Job Description Title Social Studies Teacher (GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY OF THE WORLD) & Business Minor Description Position Title: Social Studies Teacher at Rise Up Academy Salary Range: Contract Salary Contract Length: Contractual Year Immediate Supervisor: School Principal BASIC FUNCTIONS : This candidate will be qualified and certified to teach multiple Social Studies courses including U.S Government, U.S History, Economics, World HIstory and Civilization, World Geography and History of the World, Psychology, Sociology, and/or Law Education. Business Minor if possible. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and student engagement. 2. Establish and maintain standards for student behavior in a climate that promotes fairness and respect. 3. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities to engage students in problem solving, creative and critical thinking and other activities that make subject matter meaningful. 4. Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to student’s diverse needs. 5. Collaborate with Social Studies Colleagues to design lessons reflecting the Indiana State Standards and the Common Core Standards. 6. Maintain accurate grade and attendance records. 7. Use summative and formative assessments to guide instructional decision making. 8. Participate in the 8-step process of instruction and remediation/enrichment. 9. Communicate with parents, counselors, administration, or other appropriate school personnel to proactively solve student academic and behavior progress. 10. Use available technology to support instruction. 11. Is punctual and reliable in attendance and supervises students as assigned. 12. Participates in professional development opportunities offered by the school corporation, and/or professional organizations. 13. Follows Individual Education Plans, Behavior Supports Plans and/or 504 intervention plans to accommodate needs of students with disabilities. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a valid High School Level License/Certification in the subject course areas listed. Ideal candidates will be certified to teach multiple social studies courses. Candidates must not have had a recommendation for Probation Assistance on their most recent evaluation. Alternative Education experience preferred.
