The Position Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Social Worker 1 (SW) underfilling a SW3 position for the Adoption Unit in Fernley. This is a full-time position, and a Nevada Social Work license is a requirement for employment. Under close supervision, incumbents at this level function in a trainee capacity, learning to determine social service needs of clients, develop appropriate solutions and case plans, and provide ongoing case management services. Advancement to the next level may occur after meeting the minimum qualification, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. A social worker for the Adoption Unit will be responsible to deliver strength-based, family-centered case management permanency services to families with a goal of adoption that promote the safety, well-being, and permanency of children to include: Implementing plans of care; home visits; monitoring services; court report preparation, and record keeping. Ensure children have their medical, mental health and educational needs met. This position will also be responsible for reviewing subsidy files and negotiating subsidies with adoptive families.
