The Position Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is recruiting for multiple Social Worker 2 positions in Las Vegas, Nevada. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following programs: Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) and Adult Protective Services (APS). This recruitment may be used to underfill a Social Worker 3 with Adult Protective Services. Advancement to the next level may occur after meeting the minimum qualification, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. The social workers within ADSD may support Nevada's frail older adults and people with physical disabilities to remain independent in the community and prevent long term care placements. They will be responsible for assisting vulnerable adults, age 18 to 59, in addition to persons 60 years and older who are abused, neglected, exploited, isolated, or abandoned by investigating, providing, or arranging for services to alleviate and prevent further maltreatment while safeguarding their civil liberties. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. Licensure or provisional licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of employment.
