**Responsibilities**
**Duties**
+ Provide evidence-based psychotherapy for complex psychiatric/social issues such as mental health conditions or emotional challenges.
+ Establish treatment plans to identify a patient's problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and determine what assistance is needed.
+ Provide therapeutic measures geared towards securing cognitive and behavioral adjustment by recognizing and resolving issues related to patient's attitude towards themselves, family and/or others.
+ Conduct intake evaluations and psycho-diagnostic assessments to address diagnostic and treatment issues.
+ Utilize psychological assessment measures to explore the development of behavior patterns, mechanisms, and symptoms.
+ Work with line operational units to address mental health factors impacting human performance such as suicide, post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and anxiety disorders.
+ Provide psychological consultation, education and training to other mental health professionals, medical staff, military commanders/senior leaders and other Department of Defense and civilian providers
Perform other duties as necessary

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. **Basic Requirement for Social Worker:**
**Degree** : Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
**In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:**
**Specialized Experience:** One year of specialized experience which includes **conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations for behavioral health patients, providing individual or group therapy, and formulating behavioral health interventions or treatment plans.** This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
**Licensure** : A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
