POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position functions to provide support to patients and family members in the form of counseling, information on access to community support, assistance with financial needs, and providing education/resources on cancer and other chronic disease treatment/s. The social worker serves as the liaison between patient/family and medical/clinical staff, community agencies and other departments within Great Falls Clinic. Receives direction from: Director of Oncology Services. Direct job supervision from Social Work Coordinator.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, required. Master's degree in Social Work, preferred.EXPERIENCE:
Background in working with cancer patients, or other type of critical care area, preferred but not required.LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Current Montana License, eligibility for licensure, or working on hours for licensureKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of social work principles and practices, including current standards within the field. Ability to use a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques including DSM IV-R. Knowledge of the development and maintenance of information/referral systems. Must possess skills in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and case management. Skilled in building and maintaining community resource database by establishing effective liaisons with key sources of assistance for patients and families.
