Job Overview:

The Rutgers Cancer Institute/Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health is hiring a licensed social worker to provide direct service to pediatric patients with cancer or blood disorders. This role will join a multidisciplinary psychosocial support team within the pediatric hematology/oncology program.

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduation from an accredited graduate school of social work with an MSW Masters in Social Work degreeState licensure required by the NJ State Board of Social Work examinersLicenses Social worker LSW or licensed clinical social workerPediatric experience

Preferred:

LCSWOncology experience preferredSpanish speaking preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week).

Essential Functions:

The Psychosocial Support Team works closely with medical staff to address the needs of the whole individual and his/her familyStaff social workers have a variety of academic opportunities including involvement in research and teaching of medical studentsThe responsibilities of the social worker include but are not limited to conducting assessments, support, and concrete services to oncology and hematology patients and their families; Participating in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate complex care; Coordinating family meetings with the multidisciplinary team for care planning; Coordinating and facilitating school reintegration meetings and servicesConnecting to community resources, and using developmentally appropriate and evidence-based counseling interventions with both children and familiesIn order to offer continuity, families are followed both in our outpatient clinic and during inpatient staysManage complex assessments of the patient/family s biopsychosocial situation establishes goals and periodically re-assessesProvide crisis intervention services were indicated for the management of domestic violence, psychiatric emergency cases, child abuse and family disputes,Provide therapeutic, goal directed counselingExhibit necessary clinical skills to provide problem focused goal directed intervention,Document social work notes in the patient medical record within the guidelines of the Department policy,Keep appraised of community resources and provide resource specific information to the assessed needsMaintain a professional manner at all times with staff and family,
