Application Engineer - Manassas, VA/Ashburn, VA (Hybrid)

We are hiring 2 Engineers to support the software development, commissioning/installation, and testing for building management systems! This role will allow for all development to be done from home, but candidates must be local in order to come onsite in Manassas, VA or Ashburn, VA for commissioning and testing.

Job Responsibilities:

Develop code to monitor and control electrical and mechanical devices to deliver ventilation, steam, chilled water, hot water, and humidification.Resolve programming problems by clarifying the project manager’s complaint, determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem, expediting correction or adjustment, and following up to ensure resolution.Contribute to the team effort in innovation, troubleshooting, and developing various aspects of BMS systems.Promote, build, and maintain good relations with customers, consultants, and project management; keep the supervisor informed of needs and actual or potential problems.Provide technical guidance and support, including set-up, check-out, operation, and troubleshooting of complex building automation and control systems; verify the functional performance of systems.Provide recommendations on equipment and systems operation and modification for energy conservation, efficiency, and reliability.Perform emergency connections to neutralize alarm conditions and restore proper operation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

3-6 years of professional experience with the following:

Experience developing software for controls or electrical systems. HVAC experience is highly desired.Familiarity with C++ or another Object Oriented Programming language (C#, Java, Python)Experience with Modbus and BACnet protocols.Proficiency in function block programming (MATLAB/Simulink, Mathematica)Strong communication and customer service skills.Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software system failures.

Desired:

Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.Experience working on Building Automation Systems (BAS).Experience with MQTT/RabbitMQExperience with Windows and SQL.Knowledge of Tridium (Generic Controls frontend).Experience within HVAC or electrical fields is ideal.
