Software Architect

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Architect to lead the evolution, modernization, and ongoing architecture of an existing codebase utilized across multiple projects. These cover a very wide range of capabilities from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. In this role, you will serve as a technical authority, analyzing existing systems to identify areas for improvement, scalability, and maintainability while ensuring alignment with broader organizational and customer goals. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in software architecture, experience working with legacy systems, and a collaborative mindset to work across multidisciplinary teams. You will play a critical role in defining technical strategies, driving modernization efforts, and ensuring the codebase continues to meet the needs of evolving efforts.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Responsibilities:

Evaluate and document the structure, dependencies, and overall architecture design Identify opportunities for system optimization, refactoring, and modernization to support scalability and reliabilityCollaborate with engineering teams to design and implement improvements while minimizing disruption to ongoing projectsDefine architectural standards and best practices to guide current and future developmentProvide technical leadership and mentorship to teams working leveraging the codebaseCommunicate findings, technical strategies, and progress to stakeholders 

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor's of Science degree Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experienceHigher education may substitute for relevant experienceAdvanced capabilities using Computer Aided Engineering toolsDemonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practicesExperience working in multi-disciplinary teamsProficiency with one or more of the following software languages: Java, C++, C#, PythonKnowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and SpiralDemonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practicesExperience with large-scale software systems and working with cross-functional teamsExcellent problem solving, communication, and documentation skills

Qualifications We Prefer:

Strong background in software architecture and systems designExperience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated buildAdvanced capabilities using Computer Aided Engineering toolsProficient with data structures 

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $165,010.21 - $226,889.04. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

This position requires current/active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment.
