Job Title: Software Cyber Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking two Software Engineers to be part of a key Cyber engineering team that is building new security architectures across a large Naval Submarine subsystems. This technology creates a common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic design aboard submarines to promote interoperability during joint operations with integrated fighting forces. In layman's terms, this system is the central nervous system of a submarine that allows all the other subsystems to connect together. These engineers will use their expertise to write secure code for communications coming in and out of Kubernetes to a private cloud for edge communication. The main goal of this role is to write defense code to secure its communication as these systems control all the subsystems in a submarine.

ResponsibilitiesWrite secure code for communications coming in and out of Kubernetes to a private cloud for edge communication.Develop and maintain defense code to secure communication systems controlling all submarine subsystems.Collaborate with a team of engineers to secure Edge Communication components of a critical submarine system.Utilize engineering expertise in Linux, Python, C++, and Cybersecurity.Follow secure coding practices (RMF, STIG) and develop Cyber Security Solutions.Capture and analyze network packets.Perform research on Cybersecurity capabilities, conduct trade studies, and provide expertise to peers and leadership.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.3-8 years (or more) of software development experience in C or C++ in a Linux/Unix environment.Experience with network packet captures.Knowledge and experience with Linux systems.Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.Experience with basic networking switch/router/firewall/IDS concepts.Eligibility for Secret Clearance (Interim to start).Additional Skills & QualificationsCloud experience such as Kubernetes and containers.Experience following Secure Coding Practices (RMF, STIG) and/or developing Cyber Security Solutions.Knowledge in PKI.Experience with large system development (10+ servers or higher).Experience researching Cybersecurity capabilities, performing trade studies, and providing expertise to peers and leadership.Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing you to work from home during development stages and in the lab during integration and test phases of the project. The team works 4-day weeks with 10-hour days, providing a flexible schedule but requiring onsite presence when necessary. You will be joining a team of three, including an industry expert on securing submarine systems, with plans to add two more engineers this year.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
