Are you as inspired as we are by the combination of multiphysics simulation and programming? Do you want to work in a team of driven and talented colleagues? Would you like to develop core functionality for products used worldwide by tens of thousands of engineers? If so, read on.
Who We AreCOMSOL is the leading innovator of multiphysics simulation software for research and product development. The COMSOL product suite enables our users to solve challenging science and engineering problems, thanks to our intuitive and flexible user interface. We create the tools that drive new breakthroughs in science and engineering, and we love what we do. Founded in Sweden in 1986, the COMSOL organization boasts 16 offices and a distributor network throughout the world with more than 500 employees.
What You'll DoIn our newly renovated Stockholm office, we develop the core functionality of our multiphysics product family, used worldwide in research and development (R&D) and computer-aided engineering (CAE). Our software enables users to solve complex science and engineering problems, thanks in part to our intuitive and flexible graphical user interface.
As a new hire, you will join a team that works with challenging projects for improved functionality in our flagship COMSOL Multiphysics software. The team has several responsibilities, where the most important ones are:
Develop and maintain the Physics Builder tool. The Physics Builder is an important part of the platform COMSOL’s own developers use to develop add-on products for specific physics areas. The tool is also available for users that wish to create their own physics interfaces. Develop and maintain the internal part of the same platform, which is an API for physics-oriented programming. Improving our flexible tools that users need to model physics problems, such as material libraries, coordinate systems, and unit evaluation. Collaborate with the teams developing the add-on products to find solutions to new requirements from our users in specific fields of physics. Collaborate with other core developers to aid physics interfaces in making the most out of new functionality, for example the automatic setup of meshing and solver settings. We want to expand the team with a new developer. The team’s wide range of responsibilities opens up for a large variation in the projects that you work with. Most development is done in Java. When working at COMSOL, you will:
Work in a specific problem space, with the goal to gradually expand your knowledge within the areas we’re responsible for, with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. Take on an integral role in the full life-cycle of your code, from design to development, testing, maintenance and improvement. Help solve real problems for engineers worldwide. What We're Looking ForWe are seeking a person who:
Is passionate about problem-solving and desire to go above and beyond in your work. Is flexible, value team work and understand the importance of putting the users center stage. Is not afraid to dig into existing code and make it your own.We are looking for both junior and senior developers with the following background:
PhD, MSc, or equivalent degree in mathematics, engineering, or computer science. Excellent programming skills with proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, for example Java, C#, or Python. Must be eligible to work in Sweden, but Swedish is not a requirement as long as you have good English skills.Experience with the following will be valued when assessing candidates:
Larger software projects. Experience with Java. Knowledge of physics or simulation. Interest and understanding of these areas help collaboration with other developers in specific fields of physics. What We OfferAt COMSOL, you will quickly play a key role within your development projects, where you will have many opportunities to suggest ideas and improvements. As the company is growing continuously, we strive toward making you an expert within your development area within a few years. Along the way, you will be supported by experienced colleagues in a collaborative working environment. In addition to an exciting career working on a sophisticated software product, we also offer a competitive salary, individual pension plans, and sponsored gym membership. We respect your leisure time and need for a work-life balance. We expect you to be onsite during the initial onboarding period. After that, we apply a hybrid approach that enables you to work from home a few days a week on average.
Our corporate culture is innovative, vibrant, and cutting-edge. We are committed to encouraging creativity through an exciting and challenging environment in which individuals excel and grow. We believe that our talented employees and an active learning environment are the keys to our success.
Our office is located in central Stockholm.
