Automation Engineer        
Job Responsibilities                                              
Your specific duties as a Automation Engineer will include: Compensation (Range) / hour:$46.00 - $48.00 In this position, the candidate will be responsible for identifying customer experience enhancements which can be made to our logging services through back-end automation. This person will provide product and service teams guidance on how to better leverage our logging services, delivered through Splunk, with a goal of understanding our customer needs, logging service operations, and ability to identify and automate customer experience or service impacting opportunities. The candidate should be comfortable with some ambiguity and a self-starter with an eagerness and willingness to learn. The candidate will be responsible for delivering and supporting their code base as part of an agile development cycle as well as maintaining existing scripts. Successful candidates should have strong skills with query languages, automation, and OS (Operating System) scripting, including ability to write OS scripts and APIs for service automation. Day to day responsibilities will vary based upon the needs of the services, but will include: • Maintain Ansible scripts used to perform Splunk Enterprise upgrades • Support the development and optimization of Splunk dashboards, reports, and alerts using Splunk SPL (Search Processing Language) • Shared ownership for the operational excellence of the Splunk environment • Leveraging troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to help resolve customer or operational problems while identifying automation opportunities to reduce toil. • Stretch opportunity: Writing requirements and working with the Splunk REST API and SDK to automate operational tasks as well as provide additional self-service opportunities to our customers By building out tooling as described above, the candidate will play a key role in supporting our department’s objectives of an exceptional customer experience for both external and internal stakeholders.

You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities.  It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Python / Flask Framework Experience • Automation Experience • Linux Scripting Experience • Critical Thinking & Troubleshooting/Problem-Solving Skills • Independent Self-Starter • Query language understanding (such as SQL) 5+ years automation experience Education Required: IT (Information Technology) Related Degree (Networking, Computer Science, IT, etc)
