We are looking for a talented engineer to join us and help build our Sports Data Platform’s static and realtime data pipeline to increase our breadth and depth of data as well as delighting our customers with new features. The ideal engineer has strong backend development, design and data modeling skills as well as experience working with server less compute solutions and graph databases. An ideal candidate has a deep understanding on building highly scalable and resilient systems as well as the desire to continually find bottlenecks and inefficiencies, never settling if there are milliseconds that can be saved.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to develop, design, and bring to market innovative devices and services.
- Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry
- Design and develop large scale highly distributed, high performance and low latency systems with exposure to cutting edge technologies at incredible scale and speed
- Build distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
- Have a lot of fun, mentor and grow new and junior team members while you are technically delivering results.
A day in the life
We’re building a wide variety of services in Austin, TX, from low-latency, high-TPS services that control the lifecycle of live events and help customers discover live or upcoming games along with Scores in Prime Video’s carousels, to a new Amazon-wide source of truth for rich, factual sports data. We are the Prime Video Live Events team, and we’re looking for leaders to help revolutionize the way our customers discover and enjoy live events from sports, to music, to breaking news and political debates. We are expanding not just the breadth of live content we offer but also the depth of the experience. This is a transformative opportunity, the chance to be in the vanguard of a program that will revolutionize Prime Video and the live streaming experience of customers everywhere.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
