About the Team

Workday is building a new Site Reliability Engineering team (SRE) responsible for deploying, operating and supporting critical Services into production.

This team will operate in an agile manner. It will seek to become a shining exemplar of SRE principles, holding the focus firmly on service reliability.

About the Role

The primary function of the SRE team is to ensure the reliability of the services, to remove Toil, and to scale sustainably in line with business growth. All SRE responsibilities and team growth will be supported by Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

Workday offers a competitive salary and restricted stock options among other excellent employee benefits.

The role entails a hybrid of software engineering and operations, with an emphasis on reducing operational toil. Automation work is planned by following scrum practices with two week sprints.

SRE engineers bring a software centric approach to improving operational efficiency.

SRE team as it matures is responsible for the operations of the platform, including production incident response and automated runbook enhancements to reduce on-call toil.

SRE team defines effective SLIs and ensures that SLOs are achieved through building an extendable Observability architecture, runbook automation, and establishing processes.

Improve platform reliability, observability and overall customer satisfaction.

Partner with platform teams to design and pilot SRE standards for their respective services to meet. Define benchmarks and automation to qualify services to move to production environments.

The responsibilities and reach of this SRE team will scale sustainably

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Are you being referred to one of our roles? If so, ask your connection at Workday about our Employee Referral process!
