Software Development Intern

Entry Level Software Engineer to provide Agile DevOps support to mission critical systems. As a Software Engineer on this program, you will have the opportunity to build strong systems and software utilizing cloud capabilities and Agile experience to support a complex ICAM program. Based in DevOps framework, you will participate in and/or direct major deliverables throughout all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing.

Intern Program Dates – May 19, 2025 – August 8, 2025

During the summer internship, you must be available to work the duration of late May 2025 through early-August and commit to working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Primary Responsibilities

Participate in software programming initiatives to support innovation and enhancement, using languages such as Java, JavaScript, and Python and queries in MySQLParticipate in software system validation and testing methods using JUnitParticipate in software solutions to leverage automated deployment technologiesParticipate in developing prototype and deploy solutions within Commercial Cloud Solutions leveraging Infrastructure platform servicesSupport the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practicesUse industry leading DevOps tools like Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, and KubernetesUse Oracle Identity Store products like OAM and OUDParticipate in systems software development, including deployment of build artifacts across different environments leverage GitFlow constructsCommunicate key project data to team members and build team cohesion and effectivenessLeverage Atlassian tools like JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence to track development activities, control source code, and author documentationCreate innovative solutions to meet the technical needs of customersCollaborate with other Interns on a software development projectParticipate in Leidos Sponsored Intern activities (Requires travel to Leidos Headquarters in Reston, VA and Team Office in Chantilly, VA)

Basic Qualifications

Be enrolled in a Computer Science degree program or STEM degree programExperience with scripting languages, such as Java, JavaScript, Python, BashMUST be a US CitizenAbility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with ICAM servicesExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Familiarity with common Agile practicesBasic knowledge of software design patternsProficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)Local to the Northern Virginia area to participate in Team Events in personActive Security ClearanceOriginal Posting Date:2025-01-14

Pay Range:Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00
