Amazon is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Manager to join the Make-on-Demand Technology technology (MOD Tech) organization. As a Software Development Manager for the Print Ingestion eXperIEnce (PIXIE) team, you will be responsible for managing the team’s multi-pronged roadmap, working with diverse stakeholders to deliver the right things at the right times for authors and publishers, managing the day-to-day development process and engineering operations, and guiding the team. You will partner with product management and co-own the relationships with the business and supporting teams. You will partner with peer SDMs in driving a unified solutions for title ingestion including metadata and lifecycle management, for books worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, an affinity to being a leader, experience running software teams with Agile methodologies, and experience owning a product roadmap along with a technical vision. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about delivering a world-class title ingestion experience to authors and publishers around the world. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Qualifications - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
