Summary\:

 

The Software Engineer 1 position on the Temple University Software Engineering and Machine Learning team is responsible for analyzing and modifying existing custom application software and designing, constructing, and testing new custom applications that meet user needs.   The team also focuses on configuration and deployment of APIs and server administration to support custom applications.  This position will allow a developer to work directly with the functional users to gather requirements and develop a prototype for the user interface in an agile development environment.  Join our team and gain hands-on experience with a diverse set of technologies, including Java, C#, Python, Kubernetes, Helm, JavaScript, React, .NET Core, Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience\:

 

Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of related technical experience. Demonstrated expertise with IBM Cognos Analytics and Tableau. Experience with any modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python, Kubernetes, Helm, JavaScript, React, .NET Core, Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

 

Required Skills & Abilities\:

 

·        Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming principles in Java or C#

·        Knowledge of Java Server Pages (JSP) or .NET, Javascript and/or jQuery, HTML/CSS.

·        Knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL or an equivalent database technology stack. Intermediate skill in creating and modifying packages, procedures, triggers, and functions.

·        Knowledge of Web Services and designing Web APIs.

·        Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of individuals.

·       Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.

Preferred Skills and Abilities\:

·        Agile Development.

·        Familiarity with Higher Education application support/development.

·       Experience with researching and diagnosing data inconsistencies.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
