Software Engineer 2 - Chipset Evaluation
Overview We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer 2 on our Chipset Evaluation Team in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be working with an agile team in a fast-paced environment responsible for the rapid bring-up, evaluation, and support of candidate RF chipsets. Essential Functions Evaluate, develop, and maintain the connectivity technology and platforms used in Garmin products, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ANT, and LTE Integrate device drivers and bring-up chipsets on supplier evaluation kits and Garmin prototypes. Assist in the chipset evaluation process which identifies and measures various performance metrics such as power consumption, feature readiness, software maturity, vendor maturity, protocol and regulatory compliance, and others. Collaborate with new and existing chipset vendors, building and maintaining relationships with these vendors. Support Garmin’s products teams as they integrate these chipsets into new designs. Engage in software design and code reviews as necessary. Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem-solving techniques. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Math, Physics or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated proficiency writing software in C and C++ on an embedded platform Experience debugging embedded software using a variety of tools including JTAG debuggers, multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and DC energy analyzers Experience with collaborative project tracking, version control, and code review tools Desired Qualifications Experience bringing up new chipsets connected to host processors by protocols such as UART, SPI, SDIO Software development experience with wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE Experience debugging complex problems using tools such as SDIO or PCIe bus analyzers and/or wireless protocol analyzers for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or similar Experience with collaborative project tracking, version control, and code review tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Git and Gerrit Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
