eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Evaluate customer requirements (requirement gathering) and help the company management in planning and designing efficient software systems and products which impact the end customer. Build performance efficient, highly scalable, configurable, and available software applications and systems. Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications. Design, develop, and test high throughput back-end software systems. Develop object-oriented software and design, code, and test complex software features. Develop software code and help lead code review sessions. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time critical environment. Segment and design technical system layers to support componentized and layered software application development, including business logic functionality and database/component repository access. Identify and make recommendations to reduce software project risks. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative technical solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to software development goals and principles. Work and collaborate on the core software development level which includes designing the elements of a system such as the architecture, modules and components, the different interfaces of those components and the data that goes through that system. Write efficient and highly scalable software code for billing systems which deal with millions of records each day. Work with the infrastructure team to efficiently write software code to run seamlessly on a high scale - design the workflow chains which consists of end to end work of all different jobs to make the products reach the end customer. Test software features that are implemented by the team while ensuring that the components perform optimally when delivered to the customer. Train new employees and help with onboarding. Telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus one year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Base salary: $165,000-205,700 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
