About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 3 in San Jose, CA

What you will accomplish: Design new experiences for eBay sellers and advertisers to promote their products, manage advertising campaigns, and improve sales. Develop and deploy systems using Node.js, Java, and Scala. Build highly available, scalable user facing software applications and restful public APIs while maintaining a cadence of building, testing, and deploying code in a continuous manner. Work closely with designers, product managers and other engineers (frontend, backend, machine learning, quality) to revolutionize the advertising space for eBay and beyond. Operate within eBay’s internal open-source community where a variety of projects and codebases are shared. Lead by example and share knowledge with the team, contributing to technical conversations and debates, and deciding upon approaches and tools to utilize. Execute as part of a cross-functional, agile team that rapidly delivers iterative value to customers. Possess full stack experience developing in Scala/Python and working with Hadoop and related tools. Partial telecommuting may be permitted from within a commutable distance.

What you will bring:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Information Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1.    Design and develop large-scale applications with object-oriented design principles, Java/J2EE frameworks, and Node.js, incorporating front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (2 years)
2.    Build and maintain RESTful APIs and web services for large-scale, user-facing applications, using JSON for data interchange (2 years)
3.    Develop highly available, scalable user-facing software applications, utilizing SQL (Oracle) and NoSQL databases to design, optimize, and maintain database schemas and queries (1 year)
4.    Build, test and deploy code in a continuous manner using CI/CD tools like Jenkins (1 year)
5.    Write unit tests, use mock servers for testing, and perform integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability (1 year)
6.    Innovate and enhance the user experience (1 year) 
7.    Contribute to shared projects and codebases, and utilize version control systems like Git (1 year)
8.    Experience working in Agile environment (1 year)
9.    Full stack development experience (2 years)

Salary: $172,931.00-$234,850.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
