Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Description

Avionic products are installed in a wide variety of civil and military aircraft. These products provide communication, navigation, and guidance information to the pilot. The software engineering team is responsible for producing the avionics software embedded within these products as well as the production test environments for the products.

Members of the software engineering team are responsible for all phases of embedded software development including:

- Lifecycle of a software product – starting with planning documents, gathering software requirements, coding in C, integrating with systems and hardware, and extensive documentation due to industry standards.

Other duties:

- Writing software development plans

- Documenting software requirements

- Creating a software design

- Writing software code

- Writing software test cases and procedures

Hard SkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer ScienceProficiency with the C programming languageExperience with embedded software development (8+ years)Experience with embedded systems or RTOS in a regulated industryExperience working in a highly regulated environment (Aerospace, Automotive, Telecom, Medical)Knowledge of full software lifecycle developmentUS CitizenshipSoft SkillsComfortable with extensive documentationEagerness to learn and adaptInterest in Aerospace environmentJob Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Sugar Grove, Illinois and some days remote.

Work Environment

- The individual will be partnered with a Lead Engineer for initial learning and development opportunities. They will set up their software build environment using in-house tools and work with various OS (VX works, Visual Studio, etc.) depending on the program.

Hybrid/Remote Flexibility:

- Standard hybrid schedule allows remote work on Tuesdays and Fridays. New hires may need to be in the office full-time initially, transitioning to a hybrid schedule based on individual progress. A minimum of 2 days a week onsite is required, with flexibility based on the candidate’s needs.
