Software Engineer

The Red Hat Insights Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will play a key role within the team responsible for the Host Based Inventory (HBI) service in console.redhat.com. You’ll provide strategic technology input, assessment, and feedback to the broader team. You’ll interact with engineering, product management, and quality assurance teams within Red Hat.  

What you will do:

Design, develop, and implement new features based on evolving business requirements.

Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering, Quality Engineering, Support, Product Management, User Experience, and Documentation teams

Investigate, diagnose, and resolve software defects in a timely manner.

Ensure that all code changes maintain or improve system stability and performance.

Participate in code reviews and refactor existing code to maintain code quality and performance.

Deploy changes to staging and production environments following established processes and best practices.

What you will bring:

3+ years of object-oriented software development experience

Test driven development mindset where writing tests as code is developed is standard practice.

Ability to work Hybrid in the Raleigh NC office.

Experience with Python and Git, in a Linux environment

Experience designing and interacting with REST APIs

Experience utilizing message queues such as Kafka for large data processing flows

Experience working with relational databases like Postgres 

The following are considered a plus:

Experience with container-based application development at scale using OpenShift or kubernetes

Experience with frontend development using react / javascript

Experience in open source software development; familiarity with upstream development practices

Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Fedora 

Red Hat certifications

The salary range for this position is $90,480.00 - $144,660.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
