THE OPPORTUNITY

We have a terrific opportunity for a Software Engineer within the Global Product and Solutions team.  Based in Belrose you will collaborate with an amazing team of engineers, developing high quality professional software for significant warehouse automation projects.  Bring your positive attitude and team player commitment and see your projects come to life. As a logistics solutions system integrator, Dematic delivers highly complex, full warehouse solutions including a full range of materials handling and storage systems linked with advanced warehouse software. Our goal is to continually improve the supply chain. Our customers include businesses of all sizes in the industries of eCommerce, retail, manufacturing, exporting, parcel services, and many others.

The purpose of the Global Products and Solutions team is to develop leading-edge technology to be used by our Project Engineering divisions globally, allowing Dematic/KION to maintain and grow in its position as a market leader.

Travel across the Asia Pacific region supporting key clients with meetings and site commissioning.  The hours of work are typically Monday to Friday with the requirement to support Weekend works as required.   

Tasks and Qualifications:

DAY to DAY

Collaborative team based Developers working on projects encompassing software, configuration, documentation, customer communication and support.

Projects are implemented from start to finish, with developers performing the on-site commissioning. Projects will start in the office, before final implementation and delivery on customer sites.

“Goldilocks” balance – just the right amount of travel to keep things exciting without it being excessively frequent, a software level that’s engaging to work on without being overly device level or overly abstract, and a friendly team size for collaboration. Projects conclude with delivering “real” physical systems with moving automation, not just an application.

Full stack development on a tech stack consisting of backend modules utilizing C# and SQL + configuration based building blocks. C# full application GUIs, and Blazor based web. Mixture of legacy + new development tech. Control industrial hardware devices from a logical level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing software products to required specifications

Developing technical documents, including specifications and reports

Delivering software projects to customer sites

Participating in on site systems commissioning

Test implemented solution to ensure contractual agreements are met

Participating in design, code reviews and code documentation

Providing assistance to the Software Service group for customer support acting as high tier support

Perform in place upgrades to legacy/existing sites

Interacting directly with customers via email and in person

Providing IT, networking, and application support and configuration for customer sites

Providing product expertise to support the sales process

Agreeing on time schedules with Team Leaders and achieving specified targets of multiple projects in parallel

Following Software Development Quality Processes and procedures

Actively contributing to the improvement of Software Development processes

Contributing to a Software Development environment that fosters technical excellence and teamwork

ABOUT YOU

Successful candidates will possess the following:

Degree in Software Engineering/Mechatronics or similar    

We will consider applications from recent Honour Graduates with excellent academic transcripts

Essential Experience in software languages and tools including Microsoft products:

.NET, C# (including Blazor, ASP.NET, WPF \ WinForms

Skilled in modern technologies and languages

OO design/development

MS Windows programming experience

Relational databases

Excellent Testing skills

Understanding of modern software development methodologies

Highly Desirable Experience:

Some hardware/electronics/equipment/controls experience/hobby

Languages/platforms/DB: .NET/C#, Java/J2EE, Delphi XE, SQL Server, Windows Server

Tech.: XML/XSL/CSS, http, SOA, WinForms, WPF, WCF, HTML5, JavaScript

Modelling tools, e.g.: UML

Development for mobile devices  

Multithreading

Comms (TCPIP, http, https, etc.)

Desirable Experience:

Experience in Radio Frequency technologies

Logistics and Material Handling or Manufacturing industries

VMware/HyperV

Server/DB configurations

Middleware (Biztalk Server, WebSphere, etc.)

Experience with networking, monitoring, diagnosis and trouble shooting 

Excellent communication and customer facing skills

Willingness to travel to customer sites
