Function
The Senior Software Engineer (also known as Country Solution Architect - CSA) is responsible for product development and maintenance for a portfolio of one or more GlobalView countries. Responsibility is focused on the activities related to technical analysis and design, ABAP debugging and coding, configuration, and testing. The role uses defined processes to make enhancements and corrections to functionality, based on submitted issues and approved business requirements.
This role requires significant technical expertise of SAP payroll, ABAP programming language and practical knowledge of GlobalView processes and standards. Over time, this role will also require technical expertise in country-specific topics related to time, HR, HR renewal and ESS.
English is a must + at least 1 more world language is required depending on portfolio of assigned countries.
As expertise and skills are increased, project assignments will become increasingly large and complex with increasing degrees of latitude. All but entry-level associates in this role are expected to provide technical coaching and consultation to others in the Product Development Team.
This role is expected to function independently based on functional specifications and project assignments and direction coming from one or more sources. Manager Software Engineering is the escalation point for any conflicts or imbalances in workload among Senior Software Engineer.
The Senior Software Engineer is expected to manage priorities and work independently. The role is responsible for providing regular status reports regarding open tickets and work following defined processes to internal business partners, typically the senior-level manager (Manager Software Engineering).
Reporting to the Manager Software Engineering, the role interacts with a variety of organizational levels in Product and in Implementation, Service, and Support, but primarily, interaction is with peers in the Business System Analyst role (also known as Country Solution Manager -- CSM). Specific interaction requirements are driven by the nature of assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide technical analysis and design of technical solutions for identified problems and approved enhancements for a portfolio of assigned countries. To manage own project activities on a daily basis to ensure on-time completion of committed deliverables. To adhere to standards for process and methodology, analysis and design, configuration and testing, as well as documentation in all work activities performed. To collaborate with the Business System Analyst role (CSM). to ensure that functionality is optimized between being feature-rich, easily implemented and maintained, highly usable and intuitive, and meets committed timelines, while remaining compliant with local regulations and best practices. To communicate status of projects regularly to ensure no surprises and to proactively address potential roadblocks. To educate internal resources on the technical aspects of developments and fixes -- through formal training, documentation, and ad hoc communications. To provide a single point of ownership for all technical details for a portfolio of assigned countries
Skills and Relevant Work Experience:
SAP technical expertise in analysis and design as well as configuration and testing for payroll functionality for one or more countries. ABAP programming language Effective written and verbal communication skills in English (the addition of other languages necessary for the support of some countries). Appreciation of cultural nuances differences and their impact on effective communication. Proven ability to manage own work effectively with little or no direction. Good knowledge of GlobalView model at a high level. Ability to adapt to evolving processes, tools, and team structure. Ability to adhere to processes and guidance and make sound decisions under sometimes ambiguous circumstances. Self-starter with strong initiative. Learning agility. Ability to work under stress in a dynamic environment. Attention to detail and methodical. Ability to work somewhat flexible hours to accommodate various time zones.
